Need to get through the pandemic/stay in place? It’s a great time to reduce, repair and reclaim your space.
Here is a list for getting organized....
- Identify the areas that you want to REDUCE
- Make a small achievable goal list.
- Don’t put more than five “to do” items on the punch list per day.
- REDUCE and get rid of all unwanted items, separating into Recycle, Donation, Trash and Shred.
- REPAIR or REPLACE all broken items.
- Old electronics can be recycled.
- Cord and cables should be kept together in a plastic bin and labeled.
- It is important to take each task and keep on track.
- Don’t skip around from project to project.
- Give yourself a specific start and stop times. (You could even set a timer.)
- Start with one hour increments .
Set the stage for success and be prepared.
- Have bins available.
- Have boxes and bags available for shred , recycling and donation.
- If you work better with some tunes in the background feel free to put some background music on.
- Turn off the TV it will be too distracting.
- Also, make this organizational time phone free. (It’s only an hour. You can live without it.)
- Make achievable goals. If you want to unclutter your kitchen, don’t tackle the whole room.
- Start with the pantry, pots and pan cupboard or the pasty junk drawer .
- One thing at a time.
- I don’t move to the next section until you have completed the task at hand .
- The same applies with your garage and office. Breaking up the project will lead you to success.
